Mumbai 14, 2017: Mobile and mobile apps are deeply coiled with our daily lives like alarm clocks apps, cooking recipe apps, music apps, note pad apps, etc. And also there are loads of other apps for civic life as well which will help the society at large.

Likewise, Mahindra Comviva has presented another unique innovation “PreTUPS™ Private Recharge” at the Aegis Graham Bell Award Jury Round under the “Mobile Application for Social Good” category. PreTUPS™ Private Recharge enables women to recharge at retailers without disclosing mobile number. To access the Private Recharge service, female mobile customer needs to generate an ‘alias number’ by sending an SMS. The customer receives ‘alias number’ via a reply SMS. The customer shares the ‘alias number’ instead of her actual mobile number with retailer for electronic recharge, thus maintaining the secrecy of her mobile number.

“It was an honor to present PreTUPS™ Private Recharge solution in front of the esteemed jury of Aegis Graham Bell Award. Aegis Graham Bell Award is the foremost recognition for innovations in ICT domain in India and promotes the entrepreneurship and advancements in the field of telecom.

Increased access to mobile phone has benefited women in many ways by providing them access to livelihood, education, information, entertainment and security. However, security and privacy concerns related to sharing mobile number for recharge at a retailer outlet discourage them from accessing services. Private Recharge is uniquely designed for female customers who do not wish to disclose their mobile numbers at retailer. We are glad that our solution is empowering women and reducing the gender gap in mobile phone ownership” – Mohit Bhargava, Manager, Product Marketing, Mobile Financial Solutions, Mahindra Comviva.
