Who should enter
- Enterprise-wide programmes that changed core operating processes, not just tooling
- Legacy modernisation where the migration itself was the hard part
- Automation programmes with documented process and headcount redeployment outcomes
- Public-sector and large-institution transformation at population scale
- Post-merger or multi-entity integrations that unified how work is done
What this award recognises is not a technology purchase but a change in how an organisation operates. A system that went live but did not change anyone’s workflow does not qualify.
If the innovation is chiefly a new enterprise software platform rather than an organisation-wide change, Enterprise Solutions may be the better fit. If it is cloud architecture or platform engineering at scale, look at Cloud Computing instead.
What the jury looks for
- Problem definition & market opportunityWhether the innovation solves a real problem, backed by evidence and a measurable impact on its target audience.
- InnovativenessNovelty and uniqueness — new technology, functionality or business model — measured against what already exists, including IP.
- Market potential & impactSize and growth of the addressable market, competitive landscape, and scalability across geographies.
- Social impact & sustainabilityContribution to society and the environment, including social responsibility and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
These are the same four criteria — problem definition, innovativeness, market impact and social/sustainability impact — used to assess every category. In this category the jury also weighs before-and-after evidence on a process metric, the scope of the change across the organisation, whether the change held after the programme ended, and an honest account of adoption and change management. Who judges this category
The Aegis Graham Bell Awards jury is an independent panel of around 250 academics, scientists, government officials, industry experts and investors, drawn from institutions including the IITs, the IIMs, the IIITs, the Indian School of Business, the Department of Science & Technology, MeitY and CERT-In, and from organisations such as the ITU, GSMA and leading venture funds. Transformation on the podium
At the 16th edition the category went to a national telecom R&D centre, with Google and Paytm on the shortlist. All three were photographed at the ceremony in New Delhi.

Once every category has been evaluated, finalists are announced on the website ahead of the ceremony.

Before you write your nomination
How large does a transformation have to be to qualify?
There is no revenue or headcount threshold. A tightly scoped programme with clear evidence usually judges better than a broad one with none.
Can a consulting partner enter on behalf of a client?
Yes, with the client’s consent, and the nomination should be clear about which organisation did what.
How do I choose between Digital Transformation, Enterprise Solutions and Cloud Computing?
Ask where the evidence sits:
- Digital Transformation — the evidence is a change in how the organisation operates: process, cost, speed or capability.
- Enterprise Solutions — the evidence is the software or platform itself and how it changed operations for the organisations that adopted it.
- Cloud Computing — the evidence is in the architecture, scale or platform engineering rather than the organisational change it enabled.
Enter once — splitting a single innovation across categories weakens both entries.
