Goa, 1st February 2019: The Aegis Graham Bell Award (AGBA) 2018 for “Innovation in IoT” has been given to Tata Communications for its “Ecosystem driven IoT solutions for India”. The ceremony for the 9th edition of the AGBA was hosted by the Government of Goa at the Entertainment Society of Goa, Panaji.
“We are proud to be recognised by AGBA for our innovative approach to accelerating IoT adoption in India. There are huge opportunities to harness the power of IoT for the benefit of businesses and communities across the country. Improving worker safety, enabling sustainable farming, boosting efficiencies in the delivery of public services and saving energy are just a few examples of the transformational potential of IoT. Our ecosystem driven IoT solutions help turn that potential into reality,” said V S Shridhar, Senior Vice President and Head of the Internet of Things (IoT), Tata Communications.
“Such innovations from Tata Communications will help address key challenges and contribute towards a better working and living environment. The Health and Safety Watch is a great initiative and will ensure better occupational safety standards. On the other hand, farmers will benefit from the innovative farming solutions as it will provide them with grass root level insights and also help ordinary farmers overcome financial issues” commented Dr. Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Jury, Aegis Graham Bell Awards; Dean, Aegis School of Business, Data Science, Cyber Security & Telecom.
Aegis Graham Bell Awards (AGBA) has been promoting innovations in the ICT domain. AGBA has been rewarding those who have been contributing in these fields, for 8 years with a vision to foster and stimulate innovators for India to become the nucleus of innovations.
Tata Communications won the award for its IoT solutions for industrial environments, which leverage its pan-India LoRaWAN™ network and cloud-based IoT. The company’s safety solution helps protect workers in factories and other hazardous environments by monitoring their vital signs through an Environment Health and Safety (EHS) watch. The EHS watch is equipped with a two-way alert system between the employee and supervisors, as well as automated attendance and location tracking, and geo fencing features. The solution can be customised to meet each organisation’s safety parameters, the size of the workforce and layout of facilities. It is also easy to deploy in even hard-to-reach environments. The other innovation that helped us win the award was our ecosystem driven farming solutions.
